The only reason I think technology wont be introduced is so FIFA cant continue to influence the results of games. Its clear to see that FIFA will do their best to influence the results of games to benefit the organisation. With a video referee there will be no more grey decisions. Just black and white. There’s no real reason to deny this.
If you knew anything about football you’d know that the current French team are not world powerhouses that the world want to see. Ireland were the better team on the night have have consistently performed great throughout the qualifying campaign. FIFA are corrupt association. They stood to loose millions if France didn’t make it. A replay was never on the cards to begin with. Next summer we will all watch the French team crash out of the group stages of the tournament, yet again.
See it from this way Irish folk, would you rather see a boring team that is solid enough but have NO chance of winning the world cup like Switzerland play in the WC instead of an exciting team like the Netherlands who could win it all if things go their way?

i think the video ref is going a little far. and it would slow the game down because the managers would be looking for every little mistake made by a ref.
That’s a joke. Why get 2 refs behind the goal when they can have one in a video room with access to certain incidents from more angles, with slo-mo replays. This is a game where players are encouraged to cheat. Bring in Rugby-style video referees to help the ref on the pitch, and citing for diving and off-the-ball incidents. The game would never be free from cheating or bad decisions, but right now it is a complete joke.

bollox. we were unbeaten in group and only lost one game in the whole campain to a deflected anelka goal in dublin, and if we got tru we would have the group france has now that group hasnt got a proper seeded team remember the hosts are in that group, sure we wouldnt win it but we would have a chance at reaching the knock out stage and it would be like 2002 again losing to spain on penalties. would you rather that or watching them cheating bastards playing our matches

callin for video refs is wonderful but u are just assuming it would be a success!! It needs to be thoroughly tried & tested, perhaps in a pre season or youth tournament. It needs to be implemented throughout the footballing world, not just the richest leagues. & it needs to keep the beautiful game as it is, not turn it into some stop-start shit like the Yanks have in NFL.
Also, some decisions are not clear cut, they are simply a matter of opinion, how does a computer decide which is correct?…

I am Irish and I am over it. The team over performed in nearly getting there. They were never going to win the world cup and should have done better in qualifiying against the lesser teams. It was handball but it was only a draw at that stage and with the Irish players left on the pitch were we ever going to win on penalties?
